Tasmania Trip 2009 - Hobart

Hobart

Hobart is the capital of Tasmania and half of the Tasmania's population (250,000) live in this city. Hobart began as a convict settlement in 1803 and it is one of the oldest cities of Australia. It is situated o the banks of the mouth of Derwent River, beneath the slopes of majestic Mount Wellington.

The following photos are taken from the Wellington Mountain Peak which is situated on the North West of the City. It is 1270 mt high and the temperature at the peak is usually quite cold at any time of the year.

Yes he was born in Hobart at Battery Point -nice suburb. This area dates back alsmost 150 years and started off as a mariner's village.

Salamanca - the city square and a popular eating spot. A row of beautiful old sandstone warehouses that have been converted to cafes, shops and galleries.

This was wonderful to see pictures of your travels! So many interesting buildings and looks like wonderful friends and family. You should post more often. :):)

Thanks Rita, I am adding a little more literature as we speak, so have another look later in the day. I find the posting photos a little tiresome, as you need a lot of time to get the order right and moving photos is a real pain, don't you think?

Yes, used to be that I could click and drag my photos if they were out of order and move them around or rearrange if I accidentally deleted one and wanted to put it back in the right order--but that ability hasn't worked for me for a long time on blogger. I write all pictures down in the order I want them and then post them bottom to top. And you can only do five at a time. Kind of a pain, but I am used to it now after doing it for so long. It still bums me out if I accidentally delte one, though! hehe! :)
