Tasmania trip 2009 - The West :Cradle Mountain

The Cradle Mountain

This national park, of 161,000 hectares, is part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. This area receives a wide range of weather conditions which can change rapidly and frequently. You can walk in a sunny weather for 10minutes, then its starts raining heaviyly and temperature changes, then back to sunny condition or snowing the next minute. As a result you have water ouzing everywhere and walking tracks resembles little creeks at times. It is really a facinating wilderness.
The main water fall in the west part of the lake. Sorry this photo is in the wrong place as I accidentally deleted it at some stage of editing. Start of our walk. We opted for the two hour walk around the Dove Lake.

We were lucky to be greeted by a little wallaby and its offspring at the start of our two hours walk.

The name cradle comes from the shape of the mountain.

The walking paths can turn into little creeks after a short heavy shower or rain.

The above two photos are little waterways you will see everywhere around the circuit..

This is a creek formed by one of the waterfalls.

A little resting spot, only it is now under water.

Two falls on the south.

Isn't this stunning?

Timber walking trail.

Looks like a spider moss, very interesting.
